Bathroom Projects on a Budget

January 12, 2018

Many projects in the bathroom can be done on a budget, and a small about of money can go a long way.

If you’re looking to start more home improvement projects to kick off 2018, a great place to start is your bathroom.

Many projects in the bathroom can be done on a budget, and a small about of money can go a long way. Here are a few projects that can be done on a budget, and within one weekend.

Install a New Shower Head

If you’ve noticed your old shower head not doing as good a job as it once did, a new shower head may be in your future. Typically, all you need to do is screw off the old shower head from the shower arm, which is the piece sticking out from the wall, clean off the threads on the shower arm, and then screw on the new shower head. Make sure you read the installation instructions on the new shower head, because some are made differently.

Fix a Leaky or Dripping Bathroom Faucet

Bathtub faucets can be either single handle or two handle designs, and they can use any of the types of mechanisms used in sink faucets. If you’ve got a two handle design where the faucets are attached to the tub or wall, chances are you’ve got a simple compression faucet. Just shut off the water supply to your faucets, remove each handle of the faucet, remove the nut using a wrench, remove the stem and seat washer, replace the seat washer, and then finish the project by reassembling the each handle.

Replace or Install a New Sink Faucet

If you’re thinking about installing a new sink faucet because it’s leaking, you should think about repairing it first. If you simply want to get rid of your old, outdated sink faucet, then don’t be afraid to go for it. Replacing a sink faucet, whether it be in your bathroom, kitchen, or utility room, is easier than you may think.
